The paint is both off the chain AND the canvas!
Since repurposing and Home-Deco have blurry lines, I'm combining them here for our latest Painted Furniture and Repurposing Blog.
You may also continue below for more information,
although the majority of the projects are on the link provided above.
About Hill Artistry Home Deco/Repurposing:
Let me help you put the FUN in FUNctional and prove that
art doesn't just have to hang on your wall as a dust collector.
Vases, lamps, dressers, beds, tables, chairs (minor upholstery), faux finishes
(i.e. marble, wood), realism, abstraction, collage, decorative.
My only limit is your imagination.
(Click images to see detail and other views. Commission prices are given
through consultation because each one is as unique as you.)

I grew up poor. Not the "I can't afford the new iPhone" kind of poor, but "We might not pay the phone bill" kind of poor. It wasn't easy, but I learned how to make the best art out of some crappy things. Nothing ever went to waste (especially the knowledge from those years).
All this knowledge is at your disposal now, so let me help you save money and have unique and beautiful creations. We can turn those old pieces that make you nauseated into priceless heirlooms that will quickly become objects of pride and conversation. All it takes is a little thought and some preparation. We all have those things in our house that have made us smile through gritted teeth and say, "Ooooh, Mother in Law gave us that lamp. How nice." The last thing you want to do is hurt family's feelings, but the truth is, some things just don't fit in your home or your lifestyle. Their style might have been THE thing in the '70s, but oh, the family politics involved with saying heck no, it won't go. Peptol Bismol pink isn't your daughter's favorite color any more? Boyfriend of the month's name carved all over the dresser? No, wait! Stickers glued all over everything! <--that was my thing. No reason to go out and buy all new because, in my opinion, everything can be made over! Here's what to do: 1. Find what you love and take a few notes. What inspires you? What makes you catch your breath? Where in your house do you feel most at home? 2. Take pictures of the item you want made over and the space you would like the item to "live" in, along with some of the area's decorations. 3. Take a dimension or two of the item and give me an email at Linda@HillArtistry.com. Or just give me a call and I can walk you through some of the inspirational details, like.... How about a photography collage piece with YOUR family's photographs? A favorite artist's style replicated into the design? Is your family in love with a particular theme? Do you love the new designs at a particular store? Would you like it painted primitive with your love letters copied and collaged into the details? Nothing creatively is off limits when it comes to making you happy with an object. Unless you want it gold-dipped or something, ha ha. I have "redone" furniture before, complete with stripping, sanding and staining- HOWEVER, that is not my cuppa tea. Its hazardous, noxious and very, very hard work. I'd much rather paint or collage them to the personality of their owners and their homes. Notice on the buffet to the right that it is kept true to its nature with a Victorian "painted lady" theme. |
